Activities

Walking - Many of the walks provided by the Limietberg Nature Reserve start at the top of the Bain's Kloof pass. Permits are available from the Wellington Information office or at the top of the pass. The walks range from short ambles to full day hikes and are well worth the effort as the views from the top of the pass are spectacular!

Mountain Biking - Starting from an altitude of 350m above sea level, the ride to the top of the pass will hardly raise a sweat! On your return trip you can veer off onto the forestry roads and enjoy some really awesome down hill riding along the banks of the local stream! The ride is fairly easy so can be enjoyed by even the moderately fit!

Wildlife - Enjoying our hospitality you will often find Kite, Forest Buzzard, Black Eagle, Owl, Mongoose, Buck, Cape Clawless Otter, Porcupine, Leopard...

Photography - Bain's Kloof, Wellington and the surrounding farmlands offer many opportunities to photograph our beautiful landscapes, fynbos, architecture, wildlife...

Buchu Tours - We'd be happy to share our knowledge of this fascinating fynbos crop. We grow our buchu amongst the local fynbos for the finest organically grown product ever! Tours to larger commercial buchu farms can be arranged on request.

Wine Routes - Many of the Cape's top cellars are in or around the Wellington area.

Bain’s Kloof - self guided tour pamphlets available from the museum.

Golf - Many top golf courses within an hour's drive.

Touring - Spend a day driving the mountain passes. From Bain's Kloof you can plan a circular drive which will include many of the local passes, each of which has its own fascinating history and unique beauty. These passes are ideal for both car and motorcycle touring. You might visit popular local towns Paarl, Stellenbosch, Tulbach and Franchhoek, all within 60 minutes drive.
